To begin with I’d like to point out that means of communication have changed greatly .When we think of it we cannot understand how people who lived 50 years ago were able to keep in touch. Nowadays we cannot imagine human contact without modern technology devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, i-Pods, i-Pads, Tablets, laptops and so on. A lot of people especially teenagers communicate in social networks such as vkontacte, facebook, twitter, odnoklasniki.   They share the news, pictures, funny videos, jokes, songs and so on. The Internet is very helpful for those who have a hobby.  You can communicate with those who share the same passion from all over the world. You can learn the news and discuss your favourite pop star, or a movie actor, a  TV  show , sport competitions. On forums people share their experiences and help each other to solve the   problems they have run into. To sum it up I’d like to point out that modern means of communication have changed our life , they influence our social life, politics, commerce, everything. 10/12 /1  Art I want to say that artistic and cultural life is rather rich. Art is  a part of every day life. Art is important  as a source of information, knowledge, thought. Art is a temple of beauty and brilliance, imagination and  mirage, reality and dream, shape and size, music and silence. I want to add that in a broaden sense   art is a skill of making or doing.There are as many arts as there are many kinds of human activities. People want to make things in forms that give pleasure when  seen or heard, for example, ballet(белей), music,sculpture. People create things to satisfy their  creative need to communicate, to express their own ideas and feelings, or simply  to create an object of beauty. Works of art are differ in importance way. Operas and novels can tell a story.Painting is presented all at once. Dance is a combination of  music and action. People who love music, who can loose themselves in a book or who can spend hours painting a picture of a barn,know the deep satisfaction that can be found in art. It is not easy to express this satisfaction in words. We are completely wrapped up in art and everything works out right, because art is long, life is short. If I could have any talent that I do not possess, I would choose to be a talented singer because it is my dream to be famous. If I was a talented singer,I would try out for one of the popular TV shows that allow talented singers to  show off thei abilities. There are many famous singers who became famous in this way. If I was a famous   singer,I would be able to use my popularity to create more awareness and response to the things I care about: charity, equal  rights an so on. I would also have more money and be able to travel, which is also my dream. What period of time I would like to live I live  in Ukraine. It’s my Motherland I love it very much. We are proud of  Ukrainian history. Which comes back to pre-Christian times.There were some rulers in our history that did much to unite our lands and develop our state.That’s why their names as founders of Ukraine will be in our memory forever. As for me I am most proud of Yaroslav the Wise and if I had an opportunity I would like to live in the time  of his reign. From History lessons  I know that the reign of Yaroslav the Wise  is considered to be the highest  point of Kyiv Rus so I could see the establishment of my country by my own eyes. Due to Yaroslav the Wise Ukrainian people leant about books. He was the first who realized that the whole population needed to be educated.He built many monasteries where people could get knowledge. With Yaroslav the Wise  the growth of culture began. By the way  Kyiv Rus achieved its greatest power under  Yaroslav the Wise in the 11th century. He made Kyiv a great city and built magnificent buildings including the Saint Sophia’s Cathedral. During his rule in Kyiv over 400 church  were s were built. He also compiled the first Russian law code, the so called “Russkaya Pravda” This important accomplishment engraved Yaroslav’s name in the history of Ukraine. He died in 1054 . He was 75  years old and was buried in the Saint Sophia’s Cathedral. 10/11 fashion How important is our appearance?Everyone wants to be good-looking. But are beautiful people always happy? For example, it must be a problem to be a really beautiful woman, because some men may be more interested at looking at you  than talking to you.They think of you  as a picture rather than a person. There are also some people who think that women who are pretty and men who are handsome  must be stupid. They believe that only unattractive people can be intelligent. On the other hand, no one wants to be really ugly, and have a face that even mother does not want to look at. Beeing attractive is like being rich – it can help you find happiness, but it doesn’t always make you happy. So  may be the best thing is not to worry about how you look, but simply try to be an interesting person. Interesting people  have interesting faces, and interesting faces are almost always attractive.  Keeping wild animals in zoos To begin with today wild animals suffer from many different negative features, that is why many species of them are kept in zoos. But is it good for animals to live in such limited conditions? First of all people keep wild animals in zoos just to save them from merciless killing. For example, there are some kinds of hawks which are very rare today. That means a lot of poachers want to get rich by selling them. Secondly, people take care of animals, feed them, while in wild life they have to find food themselves. That is one of the advantages of zoos. In addition, living in zoos gives a real opportunity to animals to be protected from other animals. To be more exactly, do not have to defend their territory, to fight against their enemies, to be afraid of a sudden atack. Their life in zoos rather peaceful. Apart from pluses of keeping animals in zoos, there are some minuses of it. Firstly, zoos are public places, that is why a lot of visitors bother animals. people take photos whith them, feed them, even anger them. All these things whithout doubt affect the animals` life negatively. Moreover, wild animals have no enough space in the cage both to run and jump. Their life is not so meaningful and interesting comparing with life in forests, steppes or jungles. The worst thing about keeping animals in zoos from my point of view is that they can loose their natural instincts and then they become dapendent on people. If we send wild animals back to wild life it will be very difficult for them to survive and what is more there is a little chance to stay alive for a long time. On the whole, keeping wild animals in zoos is a good opportunity to save them for other generations, however zoos make wild animals rather domestic and tame, that is not so good for them. All in all I think it would be better to make more natural reserves than zoos, because they have much more in common with the wild life. Mobile phones in my life” We live in the time when we are surrounded by various devices. Many people can’t imagine their lives without using a mobile phone. I can say that I’m not an exception too J Maybe 10 years ago they were not so popular. My parents even say that they didn’t have phones and their life was very interesting. But I can’t understand them. Nowadays mobile phones play a vital role in our life, I think so. Many children (even 1st form) ask their parents to buy them mobile devices, saying that everybody in their classes has mobile phones. As for me, I have … (марка телефона). It’s not iPhone 6, but I’m proud of my mobile device. I listen to music, watch videos, and communicate with my friends with the help of mobile. I’m sure it’s difficult to find a pupil who can live without chatting in vkontakte, facebook, viber or posting photos in instagram. I like to make photos (I photo everything I see: delicious food, beautiful nature, unusual thinks; I like to make selfie). I like to speak with my boyfriend (girlfriend) for hours (especially at night). If I forget my phone at home, I feel nervous all day long. I understand that it is not normal, but I can’t do anything with this. My favourite film - Мой любимый фильм    I like to go to the cinema. When I have free time I always go to see some new films. There is a cinema not far from my house and I often go there with my friends. I prefer feature films (1) and amusing comedies. It’s a pity the life is so difficult nowadays, but nevertheless people want to relax a little and to laugh. As for me I am fond of true-to-life films describing the life of ordinary (2) people, their feelings and problems. As a rule such films leave a deep impression upon me. My favourite film which I have seen lately was Titanic.    It is a foreign film that was produced by a famous director (3) James Cameron. This film tells us about the real tragedy on the British passenger liner Titanic. It was supposed to be unsinkable (4) but struck an iceberg and sank (5) off Newfoundland on its first voyage (6) in 1912. There were many victims (7)— 1,513 lives were lost. While watching the film I was mostly impressed by the playing of actors. A young actor Leo Dicaprio and a beautiful actress Kate Winslet played the leading parts. This film achieved a world wide fame. It won 11 Oscars in 1998, the highest annual motion picture awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts of the USA for the best picture, best director, best actors, best cinematography, best screenplay (8) and best music. This film was very popular with cinema goers (9) and I liked it a lot. 4School Uniform School Rules School is the place where we meet almost all our future friends, where every day brings new emotions and new experience. It gives us the opportunity to gain knowledge, to communicate with friends, to explore the world. Finally, school is where every weekday children spend even more time than at home – from early morning till evening. There are certain rules to be followed by all pupils and teachers at school. These rules make the life at school pleasant and comfortable for everyone involved. For example, it is a good idea to come to school 10-15 minutes before the start of the lesson. Then you have some time to say hello to your classmates and to discuss with them the latest news in order not to do it during the lesson. What’s more, you should prepare for the lessons, doing your homework in advance. Then, you should turn off your mobile phone during the lessons so it does not interfere with listening to the teacher carefully. And also try not to talk with other children during the lessons. That would prevent both of you from studying. Nowadays many schools have school uniform. It is believed that school uniform makes children more disciplined and removes social inequality because both rich and poor children wear the same clothes. Nevertheless, wearing school uniform is a must for all pupils. To sum up, whether you like it or not school rules are to follow for of all children at school.

My favorite character

I like reading and spent a lot of time with the books. (розповідь про книги)

I like to read the adventure novels and detective stories. They capture my attention and imagination. One of my favorite books is the series of stories about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The author of these wonderful books is A. Conan Doyle.

My favorite character is the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes. He's smart, insightful, and resourceful. In crisis situations he doesn’t lose composure and avoids panicking. He invented the deductive method of investigating mysteries and crimes. I admire his intelligence, logic, fearless and faith in the scientific progress. So I can confidently say that my favorite hero is Sherlock Holmes.

«About school»

School is our second home. I often hear it from the teachers. And I agree with them. I like to go to school because here I can learn more about the world around me. I communicate with a big number of people. And this helped me to make new friends.

Each day in school looks like a magical trip to unknown worlds. I have different lessons like History, Literature, and Math where teacher shows me different pieces of our big world. I like English most  of all( про урок англійської мови)

the teachers in our school are always very friendly. They always try to help every pupil to understand the material and get the better marks. I can always ask teacher if something is unclear for me. Besides this, teachers are going with us to different museums, exhibitions, parks telling us many interesting things and teaching us to become cultured persons.

School gives me a lot of knowledge and helps me to get prepared for the grown-up life.

My Pet

There are a lot of people who like animals.

And many of them keep some animals at home.

Such animals are called pets.

They are cats, dogs, hamsters, white mice and so on.

They know their masters and love them.

And all the pets need their master’s care and love.

Dogs can be good friends to lonely people, cats can cure some illnesses and bad mood.

I love cats very much.

I have one at home.

My cat’s name is Alice.

She is four years old, but she is rather small.

Alice has very beautiful eyes and when it is dark in the room they shine.

She likes to play and to sleep, but most of all she likes to eat.

Some cats walk outdoors.

My cat hates it.

She thinks that a domestic cat should stay at home.

But in general it is a cat that walks by herself.

About teacher

1.I think the job of a teacher is very difficult and one of the noblest professions among others.

2.A teacher is the kindest , the most necessary and charitable profession.

3.After our parents the teacher may be the most important person in our life.

Books in our life. 

            Books are one of the greatest wonders in the world. They follow us during all our life. When you read a book you enrich your mind with knowledge. This knowledge will help you in different subjects. People who read many books are very clever. If you read many books you will get a lot of information on many subjects.
            Some teens  don’t like reading books. They prefer watching TV, playing computer games and other kinds of entertainment. I don’t think it’s very good. Books are not only entertainment. They help us in self-education, and also to imagine the future, to look into the past. Books develop our intellect, our soul.Everybody has his favorite books. They can be novels, detective stories, science literature and many others. All of them distinguish and form some individual traits of character in everybody.
            As for me, I like to read books in my free time. Books help me to go away from life problems, to get into another world. Books pass over to us the knowledge and experience of previous generations, broaden our outlook.I like various literature genres(жа:нрз)and authors. It depends on my mood which book I take to read. There is no definite author which I like most of all. I like definite books and stories, for example, “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest” by Ken Kezee, “Occurrences” by D. Charms, “The little prince” by Exupery and others. Also I like novels, written by Dostoevsky, Nabokov, Mopassan and Remark. From their books you can learn more about people’s feelings, about life; you can even begin to see the world from another angle after reading these books.
           Every book gives birth to special inner world in my mind and in my soul. I like to imagine main characters of my favorite books, their clothes, and faces. It is difficult for me to leave the characters of my favorite novels in the end of the books.

The house of my dream - Дом моей мечты

   Dreams are very useful because they help to define (1) your aims and wishes. I like to dream and I often imagine (2) my future home. I'd like to live in a house in one of the suburbs of our city. I hope that there will be a forest and a lake near my house. A beautiful orchard with apple and cherry trees will surround my place.Welcome inside!
   The ground floor consists of the kitchen, the living room and the study. The kitchen is cosy with all modern conveniences. We have running cold and hot water, a fridge, gas and microwave cookers, a dishwasher. The kitchen is done in folk style and there are many traditional Ukrainian  pots and souvenirs. It's nice when our family gets together in the evenings and shares the news.
   The living room is spacious (4) with big windows. I don't want to have much furniture in it, just a sofa, a low table and chairs.

   The study is the place where I work. To my mind there should be a desk, a chair, many bookcases with books, a computer with all other necessary appliances like printer, etc.
   On the first floor there are two bedrooms. One bedroom is for adults. There we have a wardrobe, a bed and two night-tables. The colours of the walls are not bright. Everything promises you a restful sleep.
   The bedroom of my children will be light with many toys and sports equipment. Children are very active and they must have much of exercise.
   This is my dream and I haven't imagined all the details rather clearly. By the time this dream comes true everything will be planned. I invite you to visit the house of my dream.

MY  favourite holiday

Holidays make our life brighter and more interesting. They have different meanings and their own history. During our holidays we can have some fun and just relax. Since my childhood one of my favourite holidays has been New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Day is the best time for me to spend with my family in the magical and festive atmosphere, with delicious food. Schoolchildren love this time because it’s a great start оf their winter vacation. When I was a small child I wrote letters to Father Frost and asked him for some sweets and a toy as a present. I also painted New Year greeting cards and put them under my parents’ pillows.

We usually start getting ready for the New Year’s Day in advance: we prepare presents, buy muсh food and decorate our house and the New Year tree. We also go shopping to find some nice clothes because it’s a good tradition in our family to celebrate the New Year’s Day in new clothes.

My mother always holds a real feast: she makes lots of salads, meat dumplings, cooks chicken with vegetables and bakes fruit tarts. They all taste fantastic. We watch entertaining programmes on TV and set off firecrackers in the yard. Sometimes we go to the central square to watch colourful carnivals, concerts and fireworks. Adults also have a ten-days’ holiday and it gives them a chance to visit their relatives and friends and enjoy the time together. We also have enough time to travel, indulge in sports and other hobbies.

I really enjoy New Year’s Day and every year I look forward to celebrating it with my family.

My favourite actor

One of the great actors who made a strong impression on me is Will Smith. I think he is a brilliant actor with a lot of talents. All his characters are bright individuals and Will plays them perfectly well. Today he is called one of the most powerful actors in Hollywood. He has been nominated for Golden Globe awards and Academy awards for his starring roles in action films, science fiction films, comedies and dramas. By the way Will is also a rap singer and his musical career is quite successful too. He has earned four Grammy awards in music.

Smith was born in 1968 in West Philadelphia. He began his acting career in 1993 with a major role in the drama “Six Degrees of Separation”. And after that Will Smith has starred in such massive blockbuster films as “Men in Black”, “I am Legend”, “Independence Day”, “I, Robot”, “Hancock”, “Seven Pounds” and “After Earth”. He has played plenty of interesting roles, and two of them he has done together with his son Jaden.

To my mind Will is the most fascinating actor and producer. I can watch his movies lots of times and every time I really enjoy his acting. He can be funny and serious, cold and sensitive. And I cannot wait for his new masterpieces because he always tries something new.

 Pets

I  think it is very important to have a pet at home. And it absolutely does not matter, what kind of animal it is. It can be: a cat, a dog, a hamster, a parrot or even a gold fish.    Cats and dogs are the most popular pets in many countries. People who live in flats prefer to keep cats, because there is no need to walk them every day. Cats are very compact animals, they like to lie on people’s laps and even in beds. I love cats because they are warm and fluffy. Cats let us stroke them and often purr with pleasure. For me cats are the most incredible and mystic animals.   

Dogs are a man's best friends and that is the fact. Dogs are extremely clever and understand everything you tell them. Though keeping a dog in a flat is a bit of a problem, because you need to walk it two or three times a day. And this takes some time.
  In eastern countries cats and dogs are exotic pets. People there mostly keep birds. These birds are usually smaller than parrots. People live in tiny flats and houses and there is simply not enough room to place a big cage. As for me, I love big birds and parrots.
   Personally I do not understand when people keep small fishes. What is the point in all this? Fish do not speak. You cannot touch it. Well there are big beautiful fishes that are at least pleasant to look at. Keeping fish is a very difficult and money demanding process. Without paying all the necessary attention to your fish they can soon die.
   People usually keep hamsters, rabbits, rats and mice to teach their children to communicate with animals. Besides, these animals are rather easy to look after. These animals are funny, but all they do is eating and multiplying
   So, you can choose any pet. But you just must love it! I cannot understand how people can live without pets

I in 10 years

Firstly  let me introduce myself.My name is… I live in the village og Kushugum. 17 years ago I was born there and since then I have lived in it.The years are passing  and I am becoming older. In a year I will finish my school which I love with all my heart. My teachers do the best to make my personality perfect. I hope in future I’ll become a good honest person and my teachers will be proud of me.

I have not yet thought over  what age I hope to l hope to live to. I’m sure it’s not high time to think about my last days. I want to live long, as many years as possible.I’d like to receive  a good education, graduating from  2 or 3 universities. I’d like to achieve great success in my future career. I’d like to have an ideal family of mine. I want people to remember me by my good affairs, my warm-hearted character

My Village

1.I think that the best place on the Earth is my village and I like it very much.

2.I live in the village of Kushugum.

3.There are no theatres, high buildings and broad streets in it.

4.But it is very dear for me.

5.Ilke it because I was born here, my parents live here and I have spent almost all my life here.

6.Every morning I get up and breath fresh air, admire the beauty of nature.

7.Kushugumers are very kind and helpful people.

8.We have some cafes where we like to spend our free time.

9.All people of our village are proud of our school which gave them the way into the life.

10.There some sights in my village among which are the Monument to the Unknown soldier,to Zherikhov and Tiapkov, a memorial sign on the territory of our school erected by our American friend Jessica Rush. It remembers us to lead a healthy life style.

11.So welcome to our village and I’m sure you will like it, too.

Travelling

1.Travelling is very popular nowadays.

2.Millions of people spend their holidays travelling.

3.They travel for pleasure or on business.

4.People can travel  by plane or train, by  boat or ship, by car or bus.

5.They travel  to see other countries and cities.

6.It is always interesting to discover new things, to meet different people.

7.Travelling is the best way  to study the world and to understand life and traditions of peoples.

8.Travelling broadens our mind.

9. As for me I like to travel by car.

10.Travelling by car has its advantages : you will never  miss your train, ship or plane; you can make your own timetable; you can stop wherever you wish.

11.By the way in autumn I travelled to Kyiv with my  classmates.

12.We travelled by train.

13. In Kyiv we saw many places of interest  among which are Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, St.Sophia’s Cathedral, the Golden Gate.

Healthy Food

1.I would like to say that people can’t live without food.

2.Food gives us energy for everything we do – walking, talking,working, playing, thinking.

3.There are different kinds of food.

4.Some kinds of food like bread, sugar, butter,cheese make us strong and  give us energy.

5.Meat, fish and milk help us to grow.

5.Vegetables and eggs  make  our bones and teeth strong.

6.By the way people have got  four meals a day: breakfast, lunch,dinner and supper.

7. As for me for breakfast I have a cup of coffee and bread and supper.

8. I have lunch at school canteen. For lunch I usually buy a glass of tea and a bun.

9.When I come home from school I have dinner.

10.For dinner I usually have a plate of borshch or soup, mashed potatoes and some meat, a vegetable salad, a glass of tea amd a cake.

11. As for my supper it is a glass of juice and a slice of cheese.

12.I want to say that  I like to eat tasty things but  I know that our diet  must contain  all the things  we need, such as vitamins and minerals.

13.That’s why  I try to keep a healthy diet.

14. I eat  fruit, vegetables and dairy products  every day.

My favourite subject

I am a pupil of the sixth form. I study at Kushugum Gymnasium “Intellect”. The pupils of our school learn different languages: Russian, English, French. I learn English. I have my English five  times a week. Every day  I take my English textbook, vocabulary and exercise-book and go to my English lesson.. During the lesson we listen to the tape recorder, ask each other questions and speak out on what we have heard. We speak English a lot, but we also read texts from our textbook. During the lesson we also write sentences on the blackboard, learn grammar rules and do exercises. I never get bad marks in my English because I always prepare my homework well. I like my English lessons very much and come to them with joy.

About books

 11.As for me, I prefer to read fairy tales. My favourite book is” The Jungle Book” by Kipling.  It is very interesting and exciting. The main character of the book is Mowgli. He  is clever,kind, courageous, strong. That’s why he has  many friends.I wish to be like him .

Technology

1.       I want to say that times  are changing and we with times.

2.       Have a look around. Everything   surrounding us is unique.

3.       New technologies are appearing  every day to make our life easier, longer, warmer and faster.

4.       To my mind  the most important technological  invention of the last time are television, computers and mobile phones, washing machines, vacuum cleaners.

5.       With the help of television  we can learn much  about home and foreign affairs.

6.       Computers have change the way we live.The Information Age has jump on the Information Superhighway.

7.       Computers are used widely.They can calculate the  orbits of sputniks, control machines on the factories, work out tomorrow’s weather, play chess, compose music.

8.       Computers  can also make a translation  from language into another.They are a great help to a doctor, a teacher,  a composer.

9.       They are ready to help at any moment.

10.   In fact, they can make many of the things we do,  but faster and better.

11.   Then/ nowadays more and more people in the world believe that a mobile phone is no longer a luxury(лакшері) but a necessity.

12.   So  Mobile phones are not rare nowadays and many pupils use them.

13.   But cells have both positive and negative  effects.

14.   Positive is the fact  that our parents  can connect with us  every moment they need.So parents can better control their children.

15.   At the same time phone rings attract pupils’ attention during the lessons and pupils are not attentive .

16.   Pupils also spend much time  playing with their phones and don’t give enough rest to their eyes.

17.   As for me I use my mobile phone to connect with my parents and friends,to take photos, to listen to music. But I never use it at the lessons .

 About sport

People go in for sports to keep  healthy. They go in for sports to lose weight or to stay fit. They go in for sports to make their muscles bigger and stronger. Maybe you play football or some other sport for exercise. Getting exercise can be fun and can make you feel good. Sport is a big part of staying physically fit. People who are physically fit are healthy and full of energy. Exercise can also help people handle stress. Exercise is especially good for children and teenagers.

Many pupils of our school go in for such kinds of sport as athletics,gymnastics, tennis, volley-ball,swimming, boxing, chess. They train themselves not only at our physical training lessons, but also at sports schools and sports sections. Many of them are very good sportsmen. They always take part in sports competitions which take place in our school.

My favorite character

I like to read the adventure novels and detective stories. They capture my attention and imagination. One of my favorite books is the series of stories about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The author of these wonderful books is A. Conan Doyle.

My favorite character is the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes. He's smart, insightful, and resourceful. In crisis situations he doesn’t lose composure and avoids panicking. He invented the deductive method of investigating mysteries and crimes. I admire his intelligence, logic, fearless and faith in the scientific progress. So I can confidently say that my favorite hero is Sherlock Holmes.

My family

I think that a family is the most important thing for every person. Family are the people that always love you, support you and help you. For me it is impossible to live without my family. My family is rather large. There are: my parents, brother, sister and grandparents.

Now I am going to tell you about my family. We are friendly and getting all right. Our family is not very large). We are the family of four: my mother, my father, my brother and I.  My mother’s name is Anna Alekseevna. She is 40 years old. She is a teacher. She is a very nice, kind and clever woman. My father’s name is Boris Ivanovich. He is 42 years old. He is a businessman. He is rather tall and strong.  He is a man of strong character — and all of us love him very much. My brother is a student. He is older (younger) than me. He is fond of sports. We are a very good family. We love each other very much. In the evenings, when all the members of our family get together after work and study, we like to watch TV, to read books and newspapers, to talk about different things and to discuss all our problems together. When the weather is good we sometimes go for a walk. We have a small house in the country with a garden and a kitchen-garden. There is much work there and on week-ends we go there and work and have rest all together. It’s a custom for our family to discuss things during the meals. I must say that all of us are not alike in tastes, manners and characters. But as a matter of fact we get along well with each other. We usually show  our interest in what others think and do. We share each other’s joy and sorrow. We never remain indifferent to what happens to others. We exchange our impressions on films or plays we have seen.  We are attentive and sincere to each other and all these things unite a family. Everybody is grateful to our mother, because she keeps the house, she takes care of everybody, she is  kind and generous. We try our best to treat mother most kindly.

MY FLAT AND MY ROOM

I live in a beautiful village of Kushugum in Kirova street in a nice house.

My house is very comfortable and well-planned. We have all modern conveniences, such as central heating, electricity, gas, cold and hot running water, and telephone. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a hall in our flat. There's also a balcony and we can enjoy a lovely view of the river.

The largest room in our flat is the living room and we use it as a dining room also. In the middle of the room there is a big table and six chairs round it. Opposite the window there is a wall unit with lots of books, a TV-set, and a video cassette recorder. There are two comfortable armchairs and a small coffee table in the right-hand corner. There is also a sofa and an electric fire in our living room. We like the living room best of all, so in the evenings we gather there to have tea, watch TV, talk and rest.

Our kitchen is large and light. It is very well-equipped. We have got a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave oven, a coffeemaker and a toaster. We haven't got a dish-washer yet, because it is very expensive. But I'm sure we shall buy it in the nearest future.

The room I like best in our house is mine.

I use my room as a study and a bedroom. It is very nice and cosy. There isn't much furniture in it, only the most necessary pieces. The built-in furniture doesn't take much space in the room.

On the left there is my bed and desk. The desk has a lot of drawers where I keep my text-books, notes, pens, pencils and other necessary things. On the right there is a sofa and a built-in wardrobe. In the right corner there is a comfortable arm-chair. Beside it stands a lamp with blue shade. I like to turn on the lamp, sit in the arm-chair and read an interesting book.

There are some shelves with books in my room. You can see Russian,Ukrainian  and English books there. There is a big thick carpet on the floor. There are some posters with my favourite singers on the wall.

I like my room very much. When my friends come to visit me, I invite them into my room. My room is a nice place for both rest and work.

11/8 Generation gaps

I’d like to share my opinions on the problem which touches nearly each family nowadays. People sometimes talk about generation gap. Parents say one thing, teenagers hear another one. Thus, a lot of problems come out.

As for me, that problems between children and parents have always existed. Every adult  when he or she  was a  teenager  had such kind of problems and now  when they are parents  they have the same situation with their own children. I think   we can avoid  this conflict. I am sure it is important for parents to recollect that they were teenagers too and they had problems with their own parents.

As for my parents  they are too worried about me. They want to protect me in everything. I have never been  free in my own decisions. They have their own ideas of how  I should act in definite situations, what I should wear, with whom  I should make friends  or date, what music listen to, what films to watch.I t’s so boring. They want me to be exactly like them. I believe they love me and they don’t mean  anything bad for me.

Different TV programmes and magazines for the young come to help teenagers, give a piece of advice.In case of need  you can also dial a special telephone number, the so called “telephone of trust”.

But it’s not the way out. Parents should  help their children  though it is difficult to be tolerant and to find a right approach to them.We need to learn to discuss our problems in our family. If we are able to do it  everything  will be all right.

To my mind caring parents can be the best teachers for their kids. They should only be more attentive to their children , trust  their children and remember that we are not bad but we are a little different from them.

Plans for future are a problem that worries all school-leavers and their parents. The reason is that at the age of 17  we have to make a very important choice in our life – the choice of a profession. On the  one hand , we are adult enough to have an opinion of our own about what we are interested in and what we are good at. On the other hand, at this age , we lack life experience and our hopes don’t coincide with our  possibilities.

The kind of career      we have    can  affect  our life in many ways.For example, it can determine where we live and the friends we make.It can reflect how much education we have and can determine the amount of money we earn.

Your career can also affect  the way we feel about ourselves and the way other people act towards us.

To make wise career  decisions  and plans, we need as much information as possible. The more we know about ourselves and career opportunities – the better we’ll be able to choose a satisfying career.

We can develop an understanding of our values by asking ourselves what is most important to us and by examining our beliefs.

As for me I made my decision about my future profession  long ago.(про професію)

I think that love is the highest value of life. We can’t be happy without love to out Motherland, parents, friends or without love to a person. Love makes our life complete and full of sense.

Love makes friendship, happiness. We cannot love friends without loving people.To love means to  give rather than to take.

Also , to my mind, love  is like a stream of living water , which we drink  every day and need it always.A t the same time it is the sun that gives people light along the river of life.

But it is not easy to love. To love means  to unite when the world splits into  thousand  parts. In love we give a hand to another, in love we change and make other people happy. In love all people are beautiful.

So, love is the beginning of everything. So it should be cared, cherished and grown carefully and with patience. Sometimes it needs even sacrifice.

To make a conclusion I’d like to say we cannot say what is more  important , because all the values are very connected with each other. But the most important thing for us is to find real values of life while being young and stick to them throughout our lives.

I want to mention that mass media play an important role in our life.They inform, teach and entertain people. They also influence the way people see the world and make them change their views.News is not what really happens – it is what you see or read about   in mass media.

I like the profession of a journalist .He meets many people. He tries to understand  what is going on   in the world, country and city and tries to explain it to the people.

I think that the work of a journalist is very much like that of a  historian. A historian studies and tries to explain the events of the past and the journalists do the same about the present. But for me  the profession of a  journalist is much more interesting than the profession of a historian because  journalists  deal with real events that happen now. So,  journalists can influence on the history.

If I were a  journalist  I would enjoy reporting about heroic deeds of our soldier in the war which we, unfortunately, have in Ukraine. And the first person I would interview  would be our President.I think he is a very attractive person and tries to do everything possible to stop the war and to make the life of Ukrainians peaceful and happy.

To my mind food is very important in our life. People must eat to live. But at the same time we mustn’t forget that we eat foe living but not live for eating.

To be in a good form we must take natural food which includes fruit and vegetables. They are full of vitamins which are very important for our health.

But nowadays many people prefer so called fast food.

If you want to know my view on this problem  I am sure  food is very bad for health.

A lot of people eat fast food almost every day because  it’s very tasty. Sometimes they eat it when they are busy and don’t have time, or are too tired to cook.

 Fast food  contains a lot of fat and salt.People shouldn’t eat  fast food very often  as this is bad for their health. We  need to eat  a plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables as well fish and meat.

Some people say that eating  fast food  saves time.They can cook during the week-end so that they have enough food for the whole week and so it’s  a way busy people can avoid cooking during the working week.

Although  fast food is usually tasty and convenient, people should try to prepare their own meals and eat meat which is full of protein and other healthy products, all these items of food will make their lives long and healthy.

Now some words on the task of my card.

We know that Vegetarians are people who eat all food but meat. They only eat vegetables to fulfill what their stomach needs. These people  say  that they do not eat meat because killing animals is bad. Another say that they eat vegetables because they want  always be healthy. I think  eating vegetables is healthier than eating meat  is not totally wrong. It is true that vegetables are healthier than meat in some ways. But, meat contains some nutrients that vegetables cannot provide. These nutrients are animal fat and animal protein. Without it, our body would not be as healthy as a person who eats both nutrients. It is much healthier if you eat both vegetables and meat. In a brief sentence, vegetarians are not healthier than non vegetarians.

We are living at a time when nothing is as important as information.

That’s why mass media play a great role in modern society.

They include radio, television, printed materials such as newspapers and magazines and, of course, the Internet.

Mass media give us useful and interesting information and news and also help to have an enjoyable free time.

Young people and adults seek information about weather, sporting events, available entertainment and local, national and international news.

We need this information for personal, professional and academic purposes.
Newspapers remain a popular source of information. They range from thick daily quality newspapers and tabloids to small local weekly newspapers to satisfy any taste. People can buy them as well as subscribe to any of them at the post office.

Radio is another source of information. There are dozens of radio-stations

which broadcast music of different styles as well as weather forecast, sports news, talk shows and horoscopes.
Television is the most important form of mass media. It informs, educates and entertains people. It influences the way people look at the world and can make them change their views.
However, nowadays many programs and films show too much violence and blood and it can damage the image of the world we live in. Besides, TV doesn’t stimulate creative thinking and makes people dependent on the views, expressed by others.

As to the Internet, it is the newest kind of mass media. The main advantage of it is that you get informatoin  quickly at any time of day or night. It is the easiest way to get the latest news and do the shopping without leaving home. What’s more , e-mail communication has become one of the most popular ways of keeping in touch with people all over the world.
On the whole, it is hard to imagine modern society without mass media. That’s why it is often called information society.

I want to say that some people think that the art of piercing is painful  but nice.

Piercing  has a long history. It started  at the beginning of civilization. It was noticed in ancient Greece, then in Africa. People used to pick their ears and noses with rings. They thought those things made them very attractive. It may be so.

Nowadays we can see many  young people who are picked in many parts of their bodies. Some of them are sure that in such a way they look very fashionably.For the others it is the way to express their personality.

While some people think  that piercing is good, I have another opinion.

To my mind, sometimes it looks funny and at the same time piercing does a big harm to person’s health. It can also bring the infection.

So , make a right choice.

Firstly  let me introduce myself.My name is… I live in the village og Kushugum. 17 years ago I was born there and since then I have lived in it.The years are passing  and I am becoming older. In a year I will finish my school which I love with all my heart. My teachers do the best to make my personality perfect. I hope in future I’ll become a good honest person and my teachers will be proud of me.

I have not yet thought over  what age I hope to l hope to live to. I’m sure it’s not high time to think about my last days. I want to live long, as many years as possible.I’d like to receive  a good education, graduating from  2 or 3 universities. I’d like to achieve great success in my future career. I’d like to have an ideal family of mine. I want people to remember me by my good affairs, my warm-hearted character.

Lately computers have filled our life. Now they are almost in each family. We have got used to them and we do not imagine our leisure without this miracle-machine.

With the help of computers the Internet has entered into our life. It became an integral part of a life of each person. Now people cannot live a day without checking of mail and visiting their favourite sites. The Internet is not only the assistant in daily work, it is also the other world in which there are mail boxes, libraries, photo galleries, games, shops. By means of the Internet people can travel to different cities, visit tourist places, communicate with people.

Recently many people ask a question: " Is the Internet harmful or useful? ". I think, that on this question there is no certain answer. In fact on the one hand the Internet is a very good and useful thing. And on the other hand it has many negative functions: dependence, the waste of time, money, health.

Certainly, the Internet can be the excellent assistant in information search. But if we spend a lot of time on the Internet we`ll have some problems. We lose a touch with the real world, get in a full dependence on a computer. I think, that it is important to learn to distinguish a side between a real life and a life on the Internet. For that it is necessary to understand, what is really important on the Internet and what is not . And then the Internet will be not the terrible enemy, but the indispensable assistant.
