Types of Parties

A party is a gathering of persons who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, and recreation. A party will typically feature eating and drinking, and often music and dancing as well. See our most popular party categories.  

An Eating party is: A large prepared meal, usually for many persons and often accompanied by

 entertainment; a banquet. -b. A meal that is well prepared and abundantly enjoyed.

Celebrations: Some parties are held in honor of a specific person, day, or event." "Parties of this kind are often called celebrations." "A party is not necessarily a private occasion." "Public parties are sometimes held in pubs and bars, and people attending such parties may be charged an admission fee by the host."


Theme Party: A theme party is a party that centers around a certain type of theme. For example: "Butterflies" -You ask all your guest to wear butterfly wings & faces painted like butterflies or offer face painting at the party. The food served could be a colorful butterfly shaped cake or butterfly cookies. Sandwiches cut with a butterfly cookie cutter is a nice touch. Use butterfly shaped bowls. For entertainment: go on a butterfly hunt with a identification book. All theme parties are done this very same way.

Dinner party: A dinner party is a formal social gathering at which people eat dinner together, usually in the host's own home. At the least formal dinner parties, a buffet of food is provided on a table or counter, and the guests choose items from the buffet and eat standing up as they talk and mingle. At the most formal dinner parties, dinner is served at a dining table with place settings. Women may wear cocktail dresses(вечірні сукні).


Outdoor Parties: Outdoor parties are those parties that take place outside in a park, someones back yard, down by the riverside, beach or in someones garden. Such as garden parties, garden tea parties, picnic parties, tea parties and barbecues. Bush parties (also called “field parties”) are held in a secluded (ізольований) area of a forest (“bush”), where friends gather to drink and talk. These parties are often held around a bonfire.

Tea Party: In Anglo-American culture, a tea party is a formal gathering for afternoon tea. These parties are traditionally attended only by women. -often characterized by prestigious tableware, such as bone china (костяний фарфор)and silver. The table is made to look its prettiest, with cloth napkins and matching cups and plates. -The tea is accompanied by thin sandwiches, cake slices, and cookies.

Housewarming:  A housewarming party may be held when a family, couple, or person moves into a new house or apartment. It is an occasion for the hosts to show their new home to their friends. Housewarming parties are typically informal and do not include any planned activities other than a tour of the new house or apartment. Invited family members and friends may bring gifts for the new home.

A visit to the doctor

Honestly speaking, I hate visiting doctors. I suppose, just like anyone else. But when it is required — you usually have no excuse.

When you have a headache, a toothache, a stomach-ache or any type of ache — you need to visit a doctor. The usual procedure is to go through some tests. The most usual ones are a blood test and blood pressure measurements, your heart and lungs sound and X-rays if necessary. After that the doctor may send you to the specialist who will deal with your problem. There is a great variety of specialists: a therapist, a pediatrician, a surgeon, a dentist, an ophthalmologist, a traumatologist etc.

If you have flu, a sore throat or run a high temperature the doctor will prescribe you some treatment with pills, tablets or some other medicine. There is usually a pharmacy at the hospital so you will not need to look for it around the city. Besides, the doctors usually set another appointment with you a few days later to check how the process is going.

But you know, and old English proverb says that sleep is the best cure. So sometimes medicine may help, but a good sleep will be as good as a cure.
